The Male Room Challenge #196 - Mixed Media

Good morning,

This month at The Male Room we have a mixed media challenge for you.

For mixed media I usually resort to heat embossing and ink smooshing but I wanted to see what else I had in my stash that could mix it up a bit and I've been doing some wax seals recently so I decided to use one on my card for this challenge.

I have embossed the white panel and in addition to the wax seal I have used blue ribbon, orange cotton and a twine bow. The sentiment is even a sticker to add even more mixed media to the card!

Now it's your turn to join in the fun but before you do, hop over to The Male Room blog and check out the brilliant creations by the rest of the Design Team, and don't forget to add our challenge graphic to your blog post to be eligible for votes.

Much love

Uniko Celebrating 13 Years - Introducing Spring Botanicals Primrose

Welcome back,

We are still going with the Uniko 13th Birthday release introductions and today we have Uniko Spring Botanicals Primrose.

Another lovely addition to the Spring Botanicals series. For this card I stamped the Uniko Large Background French Script in black before layering the primrose over the top which I had ink smooshed and gilded before fussy cutting. Between the two layers I added some black cord and finished off with sentiments from the Uniko Simply Said Blocks stamp set. I think this might be my favourite card of the release!

This card shows the primrose in full (with its leaves) and I coloured it using alcohol markers. The 'plant pot' was created for another card but didn't do what I needed it to do so I have used it here and I think it works well!

There are some amazing creations over on the Uniko blog using this and all the other stamps and stencils as introduced this week. Tomorrow is the full reveal and release day so pop back and check it out. There will also be the usual blog hop GIVEAWAY too.

Much love

Uniko January 2025 Reveal, Release, Brand Ambassador Blog Hop & Giveaway

Yay!!

Here we are with the full Uniko January 2025 reveal, release and GIVEAWAY!

Uniko Layering Picked Posies Stencil

A fantastic four part stencil set which creates three beautiful big blooms with foliage.

Here I used the first three stencils and added my own detail to the petals using shading and to the flower centres using gold gems. I think Christmas cards are my favourite to make and since I made these pre Christmas, I was still in that mind set. I think it works great as a Christmas card!

Uniko Ink & Flip Layering Geometric Gem Stencil

Uniko Sparkle Sentiments Stamp Set

I wanted to show this gem in all it's glory by heat embossing it in gorgeous metallics and teaming it with a sparkly glitter heat embossed sentiment. I just used the inner stencil here and fussy cut the gems so I could raise them up on foam pads for an even more stand out effect.

Uniko Flower Power #11 Stamp Set

I was so pleased when I noticed that the outline flower head would work perfectly with the art deco style of the Uniko Anniversaire Arts Decoratifs and Uniko Background Builders Arts Decoratifs stamp sets.

Uniko Mid Century Modern Stars & Circles Stencil

I thought this stencil was a nice one to have a bit of a mixed media play about. Not at all my natural style but I think it turned out ok! I have heat embossed the new stencil in white and used distress oxide inks through the Uniko Mini Uniko Logo stencil and for the Uniko Large Background French Script stamp. The sentiment is from the Uniko Birthday Wishes stamp set.

Uniko Ink & Flip Layering Flower Stencil

Again I was in Christmas mode when I was having a play with this stencil and it absolutely works! I inked the red and heat embossed the gold, adding two greens using the outer stencils. I accidentally made an ink splodge to the top right hand corner so I had to cover it with the sentiment from the Uniko Pure Florals: Poinsettia stamp set and a gold heat embossed floral from the Uniko Flower Power #8 stamp set.

Uniko Simply Said Blocks Occasions Stamp Set

A super CAS card but definitely focuses on the new stamp set! The Happy is from Uniko Simply Said Blocks stamp set which matches perfectly to the new Uniko Simply Said Blocks Occassions stamp set.

Uniko Background Builders Flower Power Stamp Set

I really love background builder stamp sets and this one is no exception. The strip I used here matches with the Uniko Flower Power #1 stamp set which I have previously seen used as a poinsettia on Uniko Brand Ambassador Alumni Carol's blog here so I took my inspiration from that.

Phew! What a great release from Uniko and a great start to 2025. I'm looking forward to what more there is to come!

But in the meantime, you definitely need to go and feast your eyes on the beautiful creations from the Uniko Brand Ambassadors and leave some love to be in with a chance of WINNING a £25 Uniko eGift certificate.

The Male Room Challenge #189 - Mixed Media

Good morning all,

Welcome to this month's challenge from The Male Room. Challenge #189 has the theme of Mixed Media.

Mixed media is not something I do a lot of but I really enjoyed making these cards. I started with one sheet of A4 cut into four pieces and taping them along the edges with low tack tape.

I used Hickory Smoke, Broken China and Speckled Egg distress oxide inks to 'smoosh' the backgrounds. I found a tip online to use acetate as there is more movement in it and it worked a treat. I then used texture paste through the Uniko Raindrops stencil and added some colour over the top using my fingertip. I then randomly, partially stamped Stampin Up! Dictionary around the panels. I die cut the bicycles and clocks from white card and inked them with the same distress oxides. I then pressed parts of the die cuts into Versamark ink and added Speckled Egg Distress glaze. Finally I stamped multiple sentiments from Uniko Simply Said Blocks and Simply Said Blocks III stamp sets and covered them in Glossy Accents.

So now it's your turn to amaze us with your mixed media creations. Join in the fun over on The Male Room blog and check out the fantastic creativity of the rest of the Design Team too.

Much love
