Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #432

Morning everyone

We have a really interesting photo inspiration challenge for you over on the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge blog today. Challenge #432 is really open to your interpretation and is chock full of beautiful colours to get you started.

The bright orange, yellow and green (of course!) really stood out to me and I wanted to incorporate circles of some sort into my project.

I raided the ever expanding stash (I don’t know how this happens, I think it breeds...😜) and found the lovely green dotted paper which I cut with an A6 stitched rectangle die and then with a lace edging die. I layered this onto yellow paper cut with the same A6 stitched rectangle die. The sentiment is from Uniko set Spring Botanicals Daffodil and once stamped in Lawn Fawn Spiced Pumpkin I die cut with a postage stamp edged square die. Finally I made the rosettes by scoring and folding two strips of each orange and yellow card. Glue the ends together and push flat in the middle attaching to a scrap circle on the back and a green dotted circle on the front.

So that’s my take on the photo but I’d love to see yours too. Join the challenge here and also pop over to look at the rest of the Design Teams inspiration and leave a comment or two along the way.

Thanks for visiting

Christmas Craft Creations February 2021

 Morning all

I’m delighted to let you know that I have joined the Christmas Craft Creations Design Team. If you’ve not heard of it before, it is a monthly challenge for Christmas themed cards and the challenge blog can be found here

The theme for February is Blue and Silver.

Initially I was going to do something with silver heat embossing, however as I ended up making my card late at night I couldn’t risk using the heat tool and waking my children! So I looked through my dies and was inspired by a set I received a while a ago with a copy of Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine.

The centre panel is actually adhered to the inside of the card blank with an aperture window cut into the card front. You can see this better here:

I find with these layering dies that the weight of the layering can cause the card to tip forward so this was a good way to stop that happening as all the weight is now on the back panel of the card.

I have backed the star layer with silver glitter card and to emphasise the silver in the theme I have cut my sentiment from silver glitter card also.

I hope you like it and are inspired to join in the challenge. Please head over to the challenge blog to check out more inspiration from the fabulous design team. Don’t forget to link back to the challenge and share the graphic on your blog post or mention #christmascraftcreations on your Instagram post.

Much love

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #430

 Morning everyone

Thanks for stopping by today and checking in with the latest Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #430. We have a Tic, Tac, Toe board today and just a reminder, as always, that we reference Close To My Heart colours but you can use any brand as long as it’s a very close match.

Now with this board I challenged myself even further by refusing to let myself use the beautiful Avocado green in the top right hand corner. I love green and I add it to every project because it’s just so versatile and to me it goes with everything. However, my lovely Color My Heart teammates have shown me, with their beautiful makes, that green is not always needed. So I stepped away from the green!

I chose to use the middle column of Sundance, Lagoon and Espresso.

Unfortunately my ‘lagoon’ card has photographed much bluer than it really is so you will have to trust me when I say it is a colour match!
The heart die is Concord & 9th and I have paper pieced the sundance and espresso card. I kept the card simple with a die cut sentiment and some metallic coloured wooden embellishments. I added a frame by scoring directly onto the card front from behind before I placed the elements to the front.

I hope you’ll join in the fun and maybe challenge yourself a little by not using your ‘go to’ colour! Take a look at the rest of the Design Teams super projects over on the Color My Heart Color Dare blog

See you soon for more colour fun!

Steampunk Happy Birthday

Good evening all

I’m popping by with a quick blog post today as The Male Room Challenge have a Steampunk theme to their challenge #147 and it reminded me of a card I made at the end of last year but in the flurry of Christmas cards I forgot to post to the blog.

Firstly I matt a piece of dark grey card onto the card front slightly smaller then the card base. I then took a piece of light grey card and ran it through the embossing folder. After I embossed it I ran a grey ink pad lightly over it to bring out the pattern and adhered it to the card front at an angle cutting off any overhang. I die cut a few cogs and the letters to spell ‘dad’, covered them in Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold, silver and copper Wow! powders. Once I had a layout I was happy with I stuck them to the card front, stamped and heat embossed a sentiment and cut it into a banner shape. I adhered the sentiment strip with foam pads.

I am also entering this into the Uniko Birthday linky party as they are celebrating a fabulous 9 years this month. Happy birthday Uniko! 🎉

Thanks for stopping by
