The Male Room Challenge #199 - Fun Folds

Good morning,

Welcome to this month's challenge from The Male Room which is all about 'Fun Folds'.

This is always the type of challenge that gets my little grey matter working. I don't often do different fold styles so I have a little browse on Pinterest and see what I think I can achieve!

I don't even know what this fold style is called so pop me a comment down below if you do. I started with a piece of card A6 in size and scored it into four equal parts along the long side. I adhered this into a square tube using an extra piece of card to attach to the two ends, on the inside. I then cut four further A6 panels, two black and two teal. I decorated each panel with patterned paper, die cuts and sentiments before adhering to the inner square tube. I made my card into a Father's Day card as it's that little bit more special.

Very much looking forward to seeing what you create and to add to my list for the next time we have this type of theme. Lots of wonderful inspiration on over on The Male Room blog so pop over and check it out.

Much love

The Male Room Challenge #190 - Fun Folds

Good morning,

Thanks for joining us today as we launch this month's challenge from The Male Room. Challenge #190 has the theme of Fun Folds.

I opted for a simple z fold card and used elements from a card kit I had in my stash.

I'm looking forward to seeing your fun folds as I'd love to get some inspiration. And talking of inspiration, make sure you check out the rest of the cards by the Design Team and join in the fun over on The Male Room blog

The Male Room Challenge #179 - Get Well Soon

Welcome!

This month at The Male Room challenge we are looking for your masculine Get Well Soon cards.

I went for the classic get well fruit bowl! This stamp set is super fun and is from Funky Fossil.

I used alcohol markers to colour each fruit in before fussy cutting and arranging onto the card front.

What theme will you go with for your Get Well card, or will you choose to do a pattern rather than a theme? CAS or lots of layering? Anything is acceptable as long as it meets the theme and is masculine. Check out the rest of the Design Team’s makes over on The Male Room blog for even more inspiration.

The Male Room Challenge #168

 Hello everyone,

The theme this month for The Male Room challenge is to include a pop up element.

Oh gosh, I think I rather overthought this make and decided to try and make pop up weaved element. It was a nightmare!! I strongly advise avoiding trying to recreate this card and I am in awe of anyone who can just make one of these up with ease!

So my pop up element is meant to be a bauble and would probably benefit from a hanging element but by the time I got to this stage I’d had enough. This was my third attempt to get the mechanism to work. Safe to say I’ll not be making anymore of these!

Here’s a closer look at the pop up.

I left the outside of the card simple so that all the surprise is in the opening of the card.

I did however get to play with my foiling machine for the sentiment on this card so it’s not all bad! This sentiment uses the ‘waste’ part of the foil as I have a solid plate which transferred this to the card and I was able to die cut it with the sentiment outline die.

Now we want to see your creations with their pop-up elements over at The Male Room challenge. Please head over to the blog and give the rest of the Design Team some love. Join in the challenge and show me how it’s done! I need to see some inspiration for next time I come across a pop-up challenge as I can’t attempt this one again!! 😂

Color My Heart Color Dare #498

Hi all,

Thanks for joining me today where I have a new Color My Heart Color Dare challenge to share with you. Challenge #498 is a great challenge that really leaves things open to your imagination.

I usually plan my cards out in my head before I make them, I find this quite therapeutic at bedtime, however recently I’ve been too busy and have been rolling into bed already half asleep. So this card was one of those just made up as I went along.

I started off by stamping the silhouette from Uniko Just Because stamp set in the challenge colours. I wanted a frame around it and decided on circular and then decided to make it into a shaker. I took a 6” square card blank and folded the top panel back on itself to create an easel card. To this I added layers of black card and green patterned paper. Then I added the sentiment strip raised up on foam pads to create a ‘stopper’. Finally I adhered the shaker to the easel part of the card.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys make with this week's inspiration photo / colour selection and I hope you will pop over to the Color My Heart Color Dare blog to check out the awesome creations by the rest of the Design Team.

As my card contains a fun fold I will be entering it into Creative Creases Challenge #33.

Christmas Craft Creations November Challenge

Good morning all,

Welcome to this month's Christmas Craft Creations where the theme is Fun Fold.

This was a tricky theme for me but I came across this lovely template online called Star Fold Card and I thought it was perfect for Christmas, the star on the tree or the star in the sky.

This is the card folded. I started out with a 12" square of card and created an equilateral triangle, 12" on each side. I marked at 4", 6" and 8" on each side and scored from each one to the other creating a triangle in the centre and smaller triangles to the outer corners.

I then cut the various shapes from patterned papers and stuck down before stamping the circle sentiment twice and die cutting. The second circular sentiment is on the inside and was layered onto more patterned paper and a scalloped edge circle to finish. This is the card opened out.

I hope this inspires you to take part in the challenge. Check out the Christmas Craft Creations blog for more inspiration from the talented Design Team.

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #460

Good afternoon all,

Now, can someone please tell me how we are in Sept already?! For me the first part of the year started off slowly but when we got past June it feels like someone is accelerating us through to the end of the year!

So here is the first Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge for Sept. It is another Crazy 8 which I think can be hit or miss for some of you but they really aren’t as tricky as the look. Just select four of the colours in the grid and craft away!

We reference Close To My Heart colours but any brand is fine as long as you make a very close match.

With this type of challenge I usually start off by picking out the colours of card and set about die cutting but I didn’t fancy that this time. Instead I used some new stamps from Honey Bee Stamps called Coffee Break and got out my closest matching alcohol markers.

I have used the colours Smoothie, Canary, Peacock, Pebble. Almond and Fern. Once you get started it’s quite easy to get all four, or in my case six, colours on your project. Don’t forget it doesn’t have to be a card! Any paper craft project is acceptable.

So I will leave you to head over the the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge #460 on the blog and check out what colours the rest of the Design Team chose to use.

Since I have used a coloured card base for this card, I am going to enter it into Time Out Challenge #195

Uniko Brand Ambassador Inspiration - Mid Century Modern Florals

Good morning everyone!

Thanks for joining me today as I showcase three cards using the Uniko Mid Century Modern Florals stamp set.

Like many of my stamp sets, I purchased this as soon as it was released because I love the style but I never got around to inking it up!

My first card really captures the essence of Mid Century Modern and I kept the colour scheme simple, in keeping with the MCM style.

I have stamped up various flower stems, leaves and heads in black and added a simple strip of washi tape to the left and a green stamped sentiment from the Uniko Simply Said Blocks II stamp set.

For my second card, I wanted to show an alternative way to use the stamp set so I have created a garland of four leaf clovers for a good luck card.

Finally, I used some of the leaf stamps to create a Christmas wreath!

I started off by drawing a circle in pencil (later erased) and free stamped the green leaves before adding in the red ‘berries’.

I hope these cards show how versatile the Uniko stamp sets are and inspire you to ink up the Mid Century Modern Florals stamp set soon.

Much love
