Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #428

Good morning lovely people!

Let’s get straight into another great challenge from Color My Heart Color Dare, challenge #428. Here’s the colour instruction grid:

I don’t know about you but when I first set eyes on this challenge I was a bit worried!! Just one colour?!!!! But which one?!

Well just like my last card I knew I needed to make a masculine birthday card and I recently bought some brilliant record player dies from Sugar Pea Designs so my chosen neutral was going to be black for the records, my metallic was silver for the record player arm and that just left me searching for the colour. I chose blue as I think it goes well with black and silver but also because this bright blue is one of my favourite colours to craft with.

I made my card blank from black card and layered the bright blue on top after I had stencilled the equaliser image using Versamark ink and Uniko’s Equaliser stencil. I die cut the various parts of the records, arms and notes from black, white and silver mirror card before assembling and arranging on the blue panel. I stamped the sentiment in blue using Uniko’s Simply Said Birthday stamp set, die cut into a circle and layered onto a slightly larger black circle.

So sticking to one colour wasn’t as daunting as I had first thought and I was able to get depth to my project using the Versamark ink, which is clear, so not really breaking any rules!

Pop on over to the Color My Heart Color Dare blog and check out all the wonderful creations from the rest of the Design Team and of course, join in the fun!

One of our regular challenge partners has a music theme as part of their current challenge which is perfect to enter my card! Head over to Double Trouble Challenge #75 and check it out!

Much love

Uniko Hello Lovely

Hi all

The Uniko design team are currently revisiting and inking up a previously released stamp set called Hello Lovely.

This is a really lovely stamp set which I had to purchase as soon as it was released! It really large so it’s great for using as the focal element of your card. For my card however I have masked off some of the stamp when inking and only stamped part of it.

The detail on the stamp is so fabulous I decided to leave it uncoloured. I have matt it onto a partially die cut layer of black card and added a touch of colour with the sentiment strip. I love hot pink with black and white.

As Uniko are running their current challenge #63 as ‘Anything Goes’ then I will be entering it there.

I will also enter Happy Little Stampers ‘Anything Goes with Dies’ January challenge.

Thanks for visiting today.

Wild times!

Good evening all

I have another card to enter into the current challenge #146 at The Male Room

The prompt is animals and I remembered that a while ago I stamped out and coloured in some of the jungle animal stamps which came with issue 85 of Creative Stamping magazine. I dug them out of my stash and got the stamp set out again to stamp up and colour some of the leaves to go around my card. I thought a Kraft card base would suit best and I’m really pleased with it. The sentiment is from Uniko set Wild which I stamped, coloured and fussy cut. The rest of the sentiment was printed from my Dymo machine.

Hope you like it!

UPDATE:

Following some (ahem) ‘constructive criticism’ from my husband I have changed the sentiment on the card. He really dislikes the Dymo labels and thinks they detract from my cards! Anyway, I’d be very interested to know which you prefer. Leave a comment and let me know.

Thanks for visiting

Night out anyone?

Hi there

I know, I know, this many posts in a week is unheard of but my crafting mojo has returned teamed with a better schedule set up for home schooling and ‘me time’.

Today’s card was inspired by Time Out Challenge #178

The theme is ‘Life in the City’ and I know that as soon as we are able and it is safe to do so (hopefully this year) I would love a night out and a few jazzy cocktails!

I seem to be on a roll with the Clearly Besotted stamps this week because again this card features two of their sets called Raise a Glass II and Setting the Scene.

I stamped my city scene in dark grey and black straight onto stamping card. I die cut this and matt it onto a slightly larger black panel and then the card front. I stamped the glasses, fruit slices and sentiment onto more stamping card and die cut or fussy cut them out before colouring the drinks and fruit and adhering to the scene with foam pads.

Let’s hope we can look forward to raising a few glasses with family and friends sometime in 2021. 🤞🏼

Much love

Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge #426

Happy New Year again Followers and Visitors!!

Hey why not start a New Year’s resolution of following more blogs this year?! Obviously start with mine if you aren’t already one of my lovely supporters.

My first New Year challenge from Color My Heart Color Dare #426 is a great one. Use at least three of the colours from the grid below. We reference Close To My Heart colours but you can use any brand as long as you make a very close match!

Now that Christmas is behind us I’m focusing on getting the all important birthday cards underway. And what could be more important than a 21st birthday card! This is for my nephew who has a passion for transportation, hence the buses and Hackney (London) cabs.

Here I have used a stamp set from Clearly Besotted named Love London. I used Lawn Fawn inks in colours Peacock (Lagoon), Lemonade (Lemonade) and Pumpkin Spice (Nectarine). I stamped the buses and cabs along faint pencil lines which I later erased. I added a strip of Nectarine coloured card and die cut the 21 using Concord & 9th Notable Numbers dies from Lagoon coloured card.

So hop on over to the challenge blog and check out the rest of the Design Teams fantastic inspiration, and join in the fun!

Make that a second New Year’s resolution, enter more challenges! Leave a lovely comment and let me know what your resolutions are. 😁

As this cards fits in nicely with Time Out Challenge #178 ‘Life In the City’, I will be entering it there.

Much love

Congratulations It’s a Boy

Afternoon all

I’ve been very lucky this week and managed to sneak off to the craft room again for an afternoon. I enjoyed stencilling the other day so I’ve grabbed my Uniko Giraffe background stencil and created this cute baby boy card.

I used lawn fawn inks ‘butter’ and ‘walnut’ to create my background. I searched through the stash and found this very cute balloon giraffe stamp in the Clearly Besotted Best Balloons set. I then hunted through and found more balloons in the CB All In Onesie set. I coloured them up with alcohol markers, fussy cut and adhered with foam pads. The ‘Congratulations’ sentiment is from Concord and 9th set Layers of Love and ‘it’s a boy’ from another CB set called Little Onesie II. I then mounted to whole thing onto an A6 Kraft card blank.

My original design was especially for The Male Room challenge who are looking for Animals in their current challenge.

I will also be entering the Happy Little Stampers new stencil challenge as this month Anything Goes.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

First card of 2021!

Good evening all

Happy New Year! And welcome to Lockdown 3.0 in the UK. This has made very little difference in this household as we didn’t send the children back to school and have been homeschooling since October half term...pass me the gin/wine/anything alcoholic to get me through!!

I left Daddy in charge of the schoolwork this afternoon and I snook off to the craft room to make this card.

I was inspired by the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch and I’m also entering it into AAA Birthday challenge #21 as their requirement is a stencil background.

There was lots of masking going on with the background in order to achieve the diagonals. I used the Cloudy Days stencil from Clearly Besotted for the background and Distress Oxides in Blueprint Sketch, Broken China and Peacock Feathers. The umbrellas are also from CB stamp set April Showers and I added the two larger ones with foam pads. Sticking with CB for the sentiment I used the Full of Sentiment set and cut out using Stampin Up! Classic Label punch.

I’m also messing around with new background styles for my photos so you might see a few different things popping up as I try and settle on one I’m happy with. This is pretty much an annual itch I get and change the style each January!
